The 5th chakra is the throat chakra and is known as Vishudda in early Sanskrit. It is positioned in the center of the throat. The energy from this chakra  flows out of the front, just under the jaw and in addition a little less intensely from rear of the neck.

This chakra is connected with communication, language and expression. The desire to communicate what is deep inside you both to yourself and to others is what is represented by this chakra.

With a fully activated throat chakra speech can come easily and there is a willingness to communicate with others..If you are having throat troubles, loosing your voice or general neck problems then it is likely that you have the throat chakra not open to it fullest.

The color connected with the throat chakra is blue… turquoise blue. {Its element is the ether and the associated metal is MercuryThe metal is Mercury and its associated element is ether}. The main gem stone for this chakra Turquoise. The stone turquoise is made up of two colors, both green and blue and this represents the spiritual, heaven (sky blue) and the earthly green of the planet. That is the main idea around this chakra. The stone assists us to express ourselves and to share spiritual information which can be integrated into our material lives. This can help with communication with other people and also with spiritual and psychic communication.

Creative talent can be easily developed and a general elevated spirituality can be enjoyed when the throat chakra is balanced. The psychological aspects of the throat chakra when it is out of balance can be obsession, repression of speech, creative blocks and not being able to express yourself.

To balance the chakra you can use meditation music in the key of A and envisage a sphere of turquoise blue light around the throat area. Visualize as you meditate that there is a blue lotus flower with 16 petals slowly  opening and spinning as your chakra becomes unblocked. This 16 petalled turquoise lotus flower is represented in the Sanskrit Mandala for the chakra.
