What is Manic Depression and How to Know If You Have it
Depression also has its different types. Most people do not know that there are many types of depression and they affect each person in a different way.
Often manic depression is the one which is confused by many people. This type of depression often shows up many symptoms. It is also not simply an extreme form of depression.
When speaking of depression the word bipolar disorder often comes into use several times. Both of them share the same conditions. Manic depression takes many forms and affects people differently. Bipolar disorder is two extremes in emotions and feelings.
A sufferer with manic depression does get feelings of mania which is very lively. This is not the regular energy we get after a good night’s sleep or when we are very happy. This is completely different and also dangerous.
The sufferer in a manic state usually talks endlessly and does illogical things like cleaning the cupboards when not needed or painting the living room in a bold colour. They may also wake their children up in the middle of the night to play games.
While these things may not seem dangerous, extreme forms of manic depression may make the person feel invincible and cause them to do something dangerous, such as crawl on their roof or drive at high speeds. The mania may also make them more angry than dangerous, and these bursts of anger can be taken out on their children or other family members.
The depressive state is the major cause which affects them. They lie on bed for days. They even neglect their responsibilities and own personal care or hygiene.
The sufferer also goes to the extremes of attempting suicide as they find it difficult to bear the state of depression. They may think they’ve just damaged themselves out with the actions throughout the manic state.
Manic depression is not disease which can be ignored. The patient has to consult a doctor immediately as they are out of balance. One can also surf online looking for alternative ways to cure depression.
This disease can be treated with medication and sometimes even having an accurate diagnosis is a big help as well, but a person with manic depression should speak to a doctor rather than simply trying to treat or cope with it on their own.
